Imagine a therapy where you don’t have to do anything. It’s non-invasive—no one touches you or inserts anything into your body. You simply place a few devices on your body while you relax in a comfortable chair or lie down with your favorite blanket on a special pad or bed. You don’t need to “think happy thoughts”—it works even if you fall asleep during the session. Afterwards, you’ll experience increased energy, improved circulation, reduced pain and inflammation, faster healing of broken bones or surgical wounds, and a more balanced mood. The benefits last. And best of all, it’s completely drug-free.
Does it sound too good to be true? It gets even better.
You don’t need a doctor’s visit, prescription, or insurance because this therapy is both affordable and widely accessible. It has a long history, with the first FDA approval dating back to 1979. Since then, various forms of this therapy have been FDA-approved for multiple conditions, including pain and swelling after surgery, treatment-resistant depression, and certain types of cancer. According to this source, 72% of US hospitals use versions of this therapy to treat broken bones that fail to heal and osteoporosis. This treatment is also effective for animals—especially horses—helping them recover from injuries (read more about this here).
What is it?
It’s called Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy or PEMF. In simple terms, PEMF is a technology that uses low-intensity, low frequency magnetic fields (generated by electricity) to enhance the natural cellular healing process.
I began using PEMF therapy as one of my initial recovery methods once I was able to get out of bed, receiving sessions three times a week alongside mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Here’s what I experienced.
My amazing PEMF story
Before starting PEMF, I was too exhausted to exercise and too fragile to engage in anything strenuous. Although I was no longer confined to bed, I still had significant fatigue, suffered from severe brain fog, insomnia, organ swelling, grayish gums, and an overall sickly appearance. I lacked the motivation to play the piano—a passion I once cherished—because my fingers felt stiff and heavy, and my mind was too sluggish to keep up with the music.
Within a month of starting these treatments I had the energy to do things I hadn’t been able to do for 7 years, like shopping and socializing.
Over the next six months of continued HBOT/PEMF therapy, I experienced:
- Significant reduction in brain fog (overall, it decreased by about 70% over 2 years)
- Improved lymph drainage. Lymies tend to have coagulated or thick blood and lymph, which impairs circulation and cellular waste removal. Lyme tends to hide in the lymph nodes and lymph fluid, so it’s important to keep this system operational.
- Better sleep
- A stronger immune system
- Increased energy and stamina (started a part-time job 9 months after beginning PEMF)
- Better periodontal health; my gums went from a grayish color to a healthy pink
- Improved circulation (could play the piano again because my hands felt limber and my brain wasn’t foggy)
- Eyes became less sensitive to light
- Quicker healing
- Less swelling and pain in my liver and spleen
- Clearer sinuses. When looking at a cone beam scan of my dental situation, an oral surgeon said my sinuses were the clearest ones he’d ever seen
- The ability to start targeting Lyme without herxing (reacting to toxic die-off)
I regularly use PEMF during challenging times and consistently experience increased energy, reduced swelling, and faster recovery. PEMF also played a key role in my healing process after wisdom tooth surgery.
